Who We Are
The Investment Group is an individual subset of UWFA that manages two portfolios: D.A. Davidson and Husky Traders. Every quarter, members of the Investment Group conduct thorough research into pre-identified sectors to find stocks they believe will outperform our current portfolio holdings. Members then craft investment pitches which are voted on by the Investment Committee. These pitches are published in the quarterly investor letter - check them out below to learn more about how these decisions are made!
Applications to the Investment Group are only open to UWFA members and are a separate process from general membership.
What We Do

Split Into Sector Coverage Groups
Each coverage group is led by a Sector Leader. Sectors currently being covered are TMT, CD, Financials, and Industrials.

Research the
Market
Members will become familiar with their sector; read up on market outlook reports, analyst projections, analyze key drivers, right-to-win, etc.

Pick the Best Companies
Each analyst constructs two one-pagers complete with a comps set and DCF on the companies they believe best positioned to dominate its market.

Pitch Your Stock to UWFA
Each sector group pitches their stock to the entire UWFA general membership during the week 8 Tuesday meeting.

Our Portfolios
UWFA invests in the stock market through two real-money portfolios: D.A. Davidson and Husky Traders.
D.A. Davidson is a fixed $50,000 competition portfolio through which UWFA represents the University of Washington against 20+ other colleges to compete for the best annual returns, sponsored by the wealth management company of its namesake.
Husky Traders is an ever-growing portfolio created from alumni, student, and outside donor contributions. With the Investment Group having 501(c)(3) status, Husky Traders aims to fund scholarships for exceptional UWFA members who have demonstrated initiative in the organization.
