Invest. Network. Inspire.
As the University of Washington’s singular and premier undergraduate finance club, the University of Washington Finance Association is dedicated to preparing students for excellence in finance.
We tailor our organization towards our members and host events that will equip them for their careers. Our goal is to provide students with resources and opportunities in finance related fields, as well as provide a community where we can learn from each other.
We focus on preparing students for careers in the fields of investment banking, asset management, consulting, and corporate finance. We do this through four primary functions: Foster Undergraduate Investment Group (FUIG), member development events, general meetings, and speaker events.
FUIG is an exclusive subgroup focused on asset management within the UWFA that members apply to internally. As the investment subsidiary of the club that manages two of its portfolios, FUIG members create quarterly stock pitches that are pitched and voted on by members of the investment committee which are then published in the quarterly investor letter. More information about FUIG and how you can apply are found here.
Our general meetings held weekly every Tuesday covers various financial topics and updates on market trends that happened over the week. Our purpose for these general meetings is to broaden general interest between students of all majors to promote the development and understanding of financial problems. While our speaker and member development events are for UWFA members only, our Tuesday meetings are open to everyone.
UWFA's member development events are member-focused events that we hold on Thursdays in place of our speaker events. As development events geared towards member engagement and development, these meetings are open only for UWFA members.
Our speaker events comprise of guest speakers from different finance companies. Some of our previous guest speakers include D.A. Davidson, Brighton Jones, Amazon, and Microsoft. These speaker events bring together industry experts to give in-depth conversations about industry pain points and best practices. These events are a great way to learn how to jumpstart a career in the industry as well as being great opportunities to network with industry professionals. These events are open only for UWFA members.
